Molecules in Motion.

INTRO COPY:

You’ve seen it. A lone figure. Moving with the tireless, animal gait that says, “I can run forever-r-r-r-r.” If you run, you know all about it. If you don’t, you can’t help but envy it. The simplicity. The joy. The freedom of moving through space unencumbered by any equipment except what God gave you—along with the shoes. The brilliant, wonderful shoes. Hey, runners don’t get a lot of toys to play with, so we’re fanatical about the technology behind the few toys we have. We’ll tell you more about our shoes than most people can tell you about their cars, gushing about medial support and impact absorption at footstrike. More importantly, we know what feels right and we’ll search the world over to find it. And who can blame us? The clock is unforgiving. Every flaw in form or fitness, every shadow of doubt or fatigue, every excess gram, drags you down by precious seconds. Course, the flip side is that every lung-bursting flight of stairs, every hot fudge sundae passed by, every morning you drag your sorry butt onto the still-dark streets, helps you go a little further— a little faster than the day before. That’s why we run.

Marie Jose Perec

COPY:

The Top 400-Meter Runner of Her Era. That distinction alone would be enough for most athletes. But for Marie Jose Perec the winning equation is anything but simple. She went on to become the first female Olympian to win both the 200- and 400-meter events in Atlanta . And now it’s 400-meter hurdles and talk of the 800 at Sydney . Any way you do the math, this track queen rules.

Opus 3D

If you think she’s tough on herself, imagine how she is on her shoes. But whatever Marie dishes out, the Opus 3D takes it in stride and delivers ultra lightweight cushioning.

Ato Bolden

COPY:

You take a 100-meter world record of 9.84 and knock it somewhere down in the 9.70s. To Ato Bolden, it’s not that difficult to figure. And this young sprinter may well have the speed to do it. At 23, he scored bronze in Atlanta for his native Trinidad and Tobago . And in Sydney , we expect to see Ato with more precious metal.

SHOE COPY:

With air channel technology that gives him support where and when he needs it most, the DMX6 is Ato’s preferred launch pad.

SHOE COPY:

3D Areeba

Spontaneous Combustion

INTRO COPY:

Drop a soccer ball on the ground. Then see how long you can watch it smirking up at you before you just have to kick it, drilling it laser-like 30 feet down the field. Or sending it spinning in a sneaky, swerving arc. Now add 21 other players who are as obsessed as you are with nailing this little sphere. Players who will run, and jump, and run, and dive, and run, and torque, and run, and pounce. And run.  And there you have a soccer match. There’s no better place to bear witness to the athletic spirit. The focus. The passion. The lungs. Is it any wonder fans are drawn so totally into the frenzy? They’re watching an explosion waiting to happen.

Eric Wynalda

COPY:

Intense, tireless, and the master of swerving kicks, Eric Wynalda may be tough to follow on the field but his career track is impossible to miss. The leading scorer of the San Jose Clash went on to make the first goal in MLS history, and he’s currently the all-time US scoring leader with the most caps on the US national team. Watch him if you can.

Eric’s fleet feet are encased in the DMX Evolution GSC. The GSC outsole gives bite on the ground, while DMX cushioning takes the shock out of landings after Eric goes ballistic.

SUBHEAD:

Julie Foudy

COPY:

If there’s a goal in sight, don’t get between it and Julie Foudy. Her leadership and drive helped the US team capture gold in Atlanta, earned her a 100th cap on the US National Team and, off the field, helped put the squeeze on child-labor practices in Pakistan. If you meet up with Soccer Magazine’s Woman of the Year, just pray you’ve got nothing she wants.

SUBHEAD:

When it comes to child labor we don’t play around.

COPY:

After learning that soccer balls in Pakistan were often the product of child labor, Reebok set out to build it’s own manufacturing plant that employs no children and gives Pakistani adult workers better wages and benefits. Then Reebok asked Julie Foudy to be spokesperson for the new soccer balls. Thanks Julie, for traveling to Pakistan to check out the new factory for yourself, and for your strong commitment to human rights.

MERCHANDISING TIPS COPY:

Mass Merchandising.  Take your newest, hottest inventory and display it on the wall.

Forget Roy G. Biv  Color is key in each story. Display merchandise on shelving so that vertical bands of color read like this from light to dark: White•Yellow•Orange•Red•Green•Blue•Purple•Brown•Black.

Name that element.  If the shoe on the shelf says Reebok, so should the shelf itself.

Measuring volume.  A footwear display consists of one shoe to a shelf, no more, no less.

Trying to follow Iverson’s ball is like tracking the ace in three-card monty—just when you think you’ve got your eye on it, it turns up someplace else. Behind-the-back passes and I’s trademark cross-crossover dribbling have left plenty of NBA guards staring slack-jawed at empty space, and it earned I last season’s Rookie of the Year award.

Now in his second season, Iverson is focusing on using his singular style to support his fellow 76ers, proving once and for all that there’s plenty of team in I.

Some I-Poppin’ Stats from this Season.

Game-High 31 points, 6 assists, 4 steals, 3 rebounds in a 99-98 win over the Dallas Mavericks on 11/13.

Game-High 26 points, 15 assists, 5 rebounds, in a 114-100 win over the Houston Rockets on 11/12.
